Overview
Sauvignon Gris is Sauvignon Blanc's quieter, rounder sibling, and for most of its life it's been mistaken for something else entirely. It's a pink-skinned mutation of Sauvignon Blanc, genetically almost identical, but the wine it makes is fuller and less aromatic, trading some of that grassy snap for texture and weight. Bordeaux barely grows it. Chile, unexpectedly, is where it's found its second home, tangled up in a vineyard identity mix-up that took nearly a century to sort out.
“Less acidic and more textured, it brings its own distinct style to a blend.”
