Overview
Few Sauternes estates have reinvented themselves as thoroughly as Lafaurie-Peyraguey. It's a genuine First Growth from the 1855 classification, ranked among the top handful of Sauternes properties right behind Yquem, but since 2014 it's also been the personal project of Silvio Denz, the Swiss businessman behind Lalique crystal. In 2018, to mark 400 years of winemaking on the site, Denz opened a five-star Relais & Châteaux hotel and a restaurant that earned a Michelin star within its first year (and a second in 2022), turning the estate into one of the only places in the world where you can sleep, eat, and drink inside a Sauternes First Growth all at once.
